Current for Facebook App Reviews

Great, but attachments don’t always work.

For those who use Facebook messenger as much as I do, it’s a great way to make sure your messages get delivered to you in time. If you’re a Mac user, you probably already value your time more than your money. This app is worth spending $2 on, so you don’t have to “check facebook” every now and then. I’d love the ability to get a notification in Current if someone tags me on something in Facebook. Right now, the control over which notifications are allowed to distract you isn’t quite as fine-grained. Edit: Attachments do not always work. I have accordingly brought down the rating down from 5 to 4 stars. Apps on the Mac App Store are somewhat notorious for not being updated regularly, hopefully that isn’t the case with Current.

Great, but uses a lot of RAM

Current is pretty great - unobstrusive, easy to use, all I wanted from it. My only issue is that it uses A LOT of memory - easily over 250 MB on my rMBP 13”/Mavericks.

Messaging not working from the menu bar

Overall I like the idea of the app. The app still needs some updates and one bigger one more specifically: the messaging is not working (I’m running iMac 2013 with Mavericks, 10.9.5) if you access it straight from the menu bar. It keeps loading forever and never loads anything. So you have to click on “See All” to open a browser-like window with Facebook home page loaded, then you can click normally on the messaging icon. That is not cool at all. It needs more improvements and ability to add or reject other people adding you. Another plus would be making searching for new people and adding them straightforward from the menu bar. In sum, wait to purchase it after the updates, specially regarding messaging from the menu bar.

Disappointed…

The menu tab part shows only notifications, message headers, and chat buddies available. All other interactions w/ Facebook happen inside a dedicated window. This isn’t the small Facebook mobile client on Mac OS X I had been looking for and thought I was buying.

The Missing Star… cause no fonts.

Totally happy with it. I would be one star happier if I could select fonts so I could use the font I want to use. Other than that, I have no issues and like it very much.

After the latest update its even better

Awesome application thats worth the money. I was not very happy before this latest update came out, but now its perfect :)

Great Facebook Messenger Client

So far this is my favorite way to log into Facebook messenger without having a browser open. The developer was responsive to an issue I had launching it on one of my Macs and it’s fixed in this version.

Keeps force closing!! Please fix!!

Please fix! it won’t open!

Great concept, still needs work. I’ll continue using it though.

It’s a great experience to replace the need to go to the browser when most of my friends chat me on facebook. There is definitely still some bugs. Mostly issues I notice are with chat windows…they lose their “sync” and don’t seem to refresh the messages. I have to close the message window and open a new one. I’ll continue using it, but would love to see some future bug fixes.

It’s good but with the new update

It freezes occassionally. I have the new 5k Imac. So it’s not my computer.

Amazing app

I absoultely love the app. It makes it so much more convenient to use Facebook without actually opening your browser. More than anything, using fb messenger is so easy without having to open rest of Facebook. Still a bit glitchy but it’s getting there

Maybe it’s me

Never really write about apps but, this one is terrible. First it wouldn’t open properly and now every time I try to open a video post, it crashes. If I use a regular facebook sign-in, there’s no problem.

potential to be a great app

When I had first been made aware of the app, it had great promise. It took me a day of determining whether or not to make the purchase. I try to use the app as my main portal for Facebook. It seems to work out decently but the application is currently very buggy. It will crash for a myriad of different reasons. I can only give this based on Yosemite machines, all my rigs are updated to the latest. This app had great potential, provided the developer recognizes the flaws and continues to develop the app instead of just pumping out minor updates.

Problem with displaying pictures

When displaying photos, the photos are always off the center, leading to partial view of the photo. Beside this, it’s an amazing app.

Raises system temp

The latest update has caused a noticable increase in system temperatur. When the app is running my CPU temperatures quickly go up by about 10*F and it goes down as soon as I shut the app down. For now I will not use the app with this bug.

Great App!

Great App! Wonderful design and such! I would give it 5 stars if it had some kind of way so it edits my typos like it does in Chrome.

Better!

Used to be slow, but much faster now!

Good, but could be a lot better

I was hoping this would be more like the excellent Facebook App Messenger on my iPhone, but it seems to be just another set of browser windows to me, that can be re-sized and seperated out. The chat / message box is till limited to a ½ dozen lines or so before you have to scroll, and the default type is still tiny (but can be zoomed). Better than the browser expierece? Yes, a little, but more can be done.

5 Stars.

I like the little pop up style for eveything. You bring it all up from the Facebook icon in the menu bar. Too easy. No bugs yet.

Really solid application

One thing I find annoying is that chat windows appear in a separate UI. This is distracting to me, but I can see how some people would like it. Options would be nice.
