Current for Facebook App Reviews

I was looking for an app that would allow me to use Facebook on my work Mac that.. - wouldn’t make me sync my Facebook account to OSX, but would provide notifications - would be lightweight - would allow me to keep an eye on what’s going on on facebook, make a quick reply if needed, and go back to work. This app solved all of those needs wonderfully, and isn’t at risk of getting shut down. Great job dev, thanks!

The best way to use Facebook Messenger on the Mac!

Comming from the broken facebook messenger app Astro, this is way better. Although it looks like it just opens the mobile facebook website in windows, it’s stable and it works. At the same time, it is intergrated seamlessly into Apples notifacation system, making it behave like a native chat application. The one complaint I have is that it seems to cache every page I visit in memory, even if I close it. The more I use this app, the bigger memory footprint it creates, starting from around 50mb all the way to 700mb. If the developer could adress this issue, it would be 5 stars.

This app does exactly what I wanted to, but without any real flair or originality to it. An option for something like a dark theme would be terrific

I like Current because it is a relatively unobtrusive way to use Facebook. I like the minimal interface to Messenger, for example, and the addition of the newsfeed in the menu bar view is a nice touch in the newest version. The app, though, is a bit temperamental, and I don’t always know exactly what to expect when I’m using it. The latest version (1.1.1) has been crashing with some regularity. The Messages window looks different in this release, and the text is less readable. Sometimes when I try to Like items, it doesn’t register. Even with a few rough edges, though, Current is still my prefered way to keep up with Facebook activity throughout the day, and I look forward to seeing its polish increase and new features.

It’s not perfect, it probably never will be, however, for there not being a native Facebook app for the Mac, this is the next best option, and there really isn’t any competition.

I was skeptical, but this app is worth every penny. Makes using Facebook a breeze on the Mac. Notifications, messages - everything is easy. Well done!

So I paid the $3.00 but the chat feature doesn’t show me when my friends message me. What the heck was the point of buying an app to check facebook…if I have to go to the actually site to see messages. They don’t come through..like for hours. Get it together guys, your product doesn’t work.

Loving the changes! All the little extras in the Messenger part are really nice. Lets me get as much (or as little) of fb as I want without missing messages. Very smooth and easy to use and customize. Nice work!

Wow Another web Browser with the home page set to Facebook!

There’s a distinct misunderstanding about this app if you think that this is just another web browser! Current is a surprisingly easy to use app that allows you to use Facebook almost natively on your desktop. “Almost” because Current is a bit glitchy. But the ability to have messenging on my desktop and attached to a hot key is brilliant. I’ve found this app very useful, and in no way am I associated with the developers—I just really like this program and use it on all of my computers.

I’ve tried all the intergrated facebook apps on the App Store. This one is by far the best. The other apps are noithing more than facebook mobile in your menubar… and most of them stopped working after El Capitan. This app looks and feels like it’s part of the Mac OS. The FB messenger in this app is a godsend. This is THE one facebook app that’s actually useful. I’d pay thrice the amount for this app.

Love this application for facebook notifications; however, it broke with the latest update to OS X.

The app no longer functions - at least the Messenger features, which is a large portion of the app. I don’t know if it’s an issue with Facebook changing how Messenger works or if it’s some incompatibility with El Capitan, but whatever the case, the app isn’t working and the developer has made no communications to make me think they’re addressing it. Do not buy now.

Totally doesn’t work with the latest version of MAC os 10.11.2

This app was awesome until I upgraded to El Capitan. All of a sudden the app got worse and worse. I even tried reinstalling and still nothing. Hope an update fixes this because I love this app.

I really loved Current, however it the app has really gone downhill. I have issues where I can’t connect to FB or get any info from the app, and most recently my group message chats don’t work at all and display a “You connot reply to this conversation” error message. I’ve submitted feedback and have had no acknowledgement or response. I’ve downloaded the free and open source Messenger for Mac as recommended by LifeHacker, and it works much better than Current.

I had previously rated the app much lower due to the fact that it had stopped working after an OS update. Now that it’s working again, I can give it a wholehearted 4 stars. I would actually rate it a full 5 stars if it hadn’t been for the lack of updates and feedback from the developer regarding when and if it was going to be fixed. Updates outside of the developer’s control happen and do often break things. I wouldn’t knock them if they just put in some sort of effort to keep us users informed: an email blast, a note here in the app description, a post on their website, or even just a tweet on their official account. But no, not even a response to emails asking if a fix was in the works. As it stands, though, the app does exactly what I want (again, now that it’s working): notify me of notifications and messages without having to leave a dedicated browser window open to Facebook. *** Previous rating *** Previously, I would have given this app 4 stars. Unfortunately, it’s most useful feature is broken after upgrading to OS X 10.11.2. Until the developer provides an update, the app can only show your News Feed/Timeline; messages and notifications can’t be viewed without opening a full Facebook window (at which point you may as well just check Facebook in a full browser). Until this gets fixed, I’ve had to turn off Current on all 3 of my Macs.

Previously I really loved this app becaues it made facebook so much eaiser for your Mac and would usually love it. However, it stopped working and now if you try to open a converstaion it send you a message saying “you cannot reply to this conversation”. Well why would I use this app if I cant even reply to a conversation? Dont buy it until they get their act together.
